J’irai jusqu’à toi (I Will Go to You) is a contemporary textile artwork from the collection At a Glance. Inspired by the landscape of the Thetford Mines tailings in Quebec at the golden hour, the piece evokes an inner movement, a quiet yet determined advance. Christine Grenier plays with fabrics and fibers to create watercolor-like effects in the sky and rich textures in the field of wildflowers.

The artwork is constructed in three layers, like a quilt, and is hand and machine quilted to give depth, texture, and relief to the composition.

Mounted on an artist’s canvas, J’irai jusqu’à toi explores the notion of distance and closeness, that moment when something calls and inspires us to move forward. The landscape becomes a reflection of inner momentum and the desire to open oneself to encounter.

There’s that moment when I realize that to reach what I desire, to move forward, I must embrace what lies before me.

I Will Go to You |
