En petits morceaux<\/em> (In Small Pieces) is an abstract textile artwork from the From Shadow to Light<\/em> collection. Unlike other pieces in the series, it was born from a deliberate assembly, with fabrics cut and recomposed to create an unexpected rhythm and harmony.<\/p>\n Christine selected fabrics in black, white, and red, arranging them in small squares separated by black strips, creating a composition where each fragment appears isolated, like a scattered puzzle. Individually, the pieces lose their original meaning, but together they tell a story of loss, fragmentation, and reconstruction.<\/p>\n The piece is layered in three parts: a top fabric, batting, and backing fabric. The quilting and stitch lines unite the fragments, adding depth and structure while preserving the composition\u2019s rhythm and dynamic.<\/p>\n Mounted on artist canvas, En petits morceaux<\/em> is ready to hang, inviting observation, reflection, and contemplation on how we can rebuild ourselves differently \u2014 stronger and more complete.<\/p>\n There are days when I no longer recognize myself. The meaning of my being escapes me, and everything seems shattered, fragmented.
