Forgotten Memories

Odeur d’été (literally “Summer Scent”) is a unique textile artwork created as part of the Forgotten Memories collection. Each piece in this series begins with a hand-dyed fabric by the artist, chosen for its organic patterns and soft color transitions revealed through the dyeing process.

Christine works with a single piece of fabric for every artwork, preserving the spontaneity and richness of the colors.

Like a quilt, the piece is built in three layers, with batting between the upper and lower fabrics. The artist performs free-motion quilting by machine, drawing directly with the needle as if sketching with a pencil. She varies the thread colors according to the fabric’s patterns and the desired visual effect, creating abstract organic forms that gently evoke nature without depicting it. This process gives Odeur d’été a textured depth and a living, poetic presence within the world of contemporary textile art.

With its delicate shades of pink, yellow, green, and white, the artwork captures the warmth of summer light and the nostalgic scent of childhood days. Mounted on a gallery‑wrapped canvas, it is ready to hang and bring softness, color, and emotion to any space.
