From Shadow to Light
Moraine is an abstract textile artwork from the From Shadow to Light collection. Like many pieces in this series, it was born from an intuitive exploration of fabrics and colors, guided by the artist’s gesture.
Christine selected fabrics in shades of lilac, deep violet, blue, aqua, and touches of gray, assembling them into a harmonious and flowing composition. The curved shapes, resembling interlocking arcs that extend downward, evoke the slow, powerful movement of a moraine leaving its trace.
The piece is layered like a quilt with a top fabric, batting, and backing fabric. Decorative quilting follows the curves of the shapes, adding rhythm and depth, while some lines are highlighted with cord, giving texture and relief to the surface.
Mounted on artist canvas, Moraine is ready to hang, inviting observation and reflection on the traces left by our own journeys.
