Textile art cushion
Trace of history is an eclectic cushion marrying the classicism of patterns, subjects, and colors with a whimsical making. I gave free rein to my imagination by breaking the symmetry, by playing with the shape which follows unexpected curves and with the corners which each show their ornament.
The marriage of fabrics and patterns inspired the subject as an artifact leaving its mark in history. There is a jacquard fabric with a medieval knight motif, like a messenger, juxtaposed with writings evoking history, a black fabric on which I embroidered an ivory bird silhouette and on the velvet, pearls take place like fossilized bird tracks on a rock.
Carefully finished, this cushion conceals a zipper in a seam. All interior seams are serged to prevent the fraying of the cover. The back of the cushion is made of an ivory quilted fabric. A rectangular cushion shape with the dimensions of the cover fits very well inside.
