From Shadow to Light
La Bête (The Beast) is an abstract textile artwork created as part of the From Shadow to Light collection. Christine worked through an intuitive, improvised process, allowing fabrics and colors to guide each gesture. Shades of purple, orange, and yellow interact between darker and lighter areas, creating a subtle, poetic tension.
The piece is constructed in three layers using a variety of textiles. Machine quilting and hand embroidery add depth, rhythm, and texture. Some shapes may vaguely suggest faces, yet the reading remains emotional and intuitive, without a fixed figurative intention.
Mounted on an artist’s canvas, La Bête invites contemplation and reflection on inner strength and personal sovereignty—revealed through the transformation of fragility into growth.
